Cartoonist: Bill Asprey
Biography:
Bill Asprey humorous illustrartor and cartoonist. He has contributed to major publications in the UK and worldwide, including Playboy Publications, drawing under his nom de plume, Leon. Bill created designs for Charles Wells the Bedford Brewery and an acclaimed commemorative gift pack to celebrate the wedding of HRH Princess Diana to HRH the Prince of Wales.
In 1975 Bill met Kim Casali the creator of “ Love is…” and a unique working relationship developed. He was commissioned, by Kim and her husband, to write and draw her syndicated daily cartoon panels, under her signature “Kim”, which he has now been doing for an unbroken 32 years.
With journalist Brian Lee, Bill Asprey adapted Roald Dahl’s book “The Big Friendly Giant” into a weekly cartoon strip “The BFG”, which appeared every week in the Mail on Sunday and was syndicated world wide for over 14 years. Bill is also the creator and founder of Cartoon World at www.cartoonworld.org an Internet organization that offers information and advice on cartooning and showcases the work of cartoonists from around the world.
